Chief Tyler was discovered to be a Cylon when an identical copy, known as Simon Parses, boarded Myriad as part of a transfer of medical personel. Tyler shot Parses and then turned his gun on Captain Furyk, shooting him in the leg. Marines were able to bring Tyler down and secure him in the brig.

Tyler took his own life during an interrogation session with Lieutenant Dorian, after he was able to take her weapon.
